Fruit of the Poisonous Tree
Lacking Biolabs, Trailers Carried Case for War (Printer Friendly)
This is the kind of crap that makes people distrust the Bush administration's claims. They continue to cherry-pick and attempt to discredit anyone who disagreed with them. If these scientists had gone public with their findings, which were mysteriously classified, you can bet that there would have been political retribution against them. Their scientific credentials would have been impugned, their names would have been dragged through the mud for more than a year, etc. This pattern is what has ruined the Bush administration's credibility.
It also appears that they're using the same playbook to try to box in Iran, which is a shame, because the case against Iran might actually be legitimate. Unfortunately, by engaging in this kind of crap, we will have no credibility when we eventually attack/invade/bomb the shit out of/sanction Iran. I would argue that the Bush administration has done more to undermine our nation's security and the security of the world through its actions in Iraq than they have done to help. They cried wolf on Iraq, and now, IF they're telling the truth about Iran (which right now seems to be the case, since Iran is playing the "Hey, we enriched uranium today" game), no one wants to believe us. I just hope we're not stupid enough to let Israel do the dirty work (barring a draft, or Iran attacking us, that seems to be the prevailing option) and spark World War III. -kev
